Westmorland to open a new motorway service area?

We wanted to let our customers know that we are submitting a planning application in December 2009 for a new motorway service area on the M5 (both north and southbound) near Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. This opportunity came to us through a local Gloucestershire charity who identified a site for the development of a motorway service area.

The vision for Gloucestershire Gateway Services is to create another Tebay Services, with the same commitment to local sourcing, farm shops and home made food as well as creating a sense of place by promoting Gloucestershire. It is a new model for a Motorway Services in that it will distribute £10 million to local causes in Gloucestershire over 20 years.  The partnership with the charity is invaluable as they provide vital local knowledge of Gloucestershire which is so important to the way we run our business.  It would be an investment of £30 million and would create around 300 jobs.

The project is still at planning stage and so there is no guarantee of success! We will keep you posted on our progress, but on the meantime visit gloucestershiregatewayservices.com.
