Summary

On Tuesday 10th August we were granted planning consent to build a new motorway service area between junctions 11a and 12 of the M5, north and southbound.

  •  It is a £35 million project and will employ 300 people and an additional 200 people through the construction process and through working with local suppliers.
  • We hope to start building in late 2011, with a view to opening by 2013.
  • This motorway service area will build on everything we do at Tebay Services; we will not have franchises, we will home make our own food and we will source locally in our shops and cafes.

  • It is an innovative design which blends with the landscape and has high sustainability credentials (we are aiming for the sustainability measure of BREEAM ‘excellent’).
  • The opportunity was brought to us by a local Gloucestershire charity with whom we have formed a partnership.  As a result, we will be distributing £10 million over 20 years into local Gloucestershire community projects.
